Vacuum. What is normal?
I finished my single install w/ AVC-R. I have PFC and datalogit.
My first trip around the block and no boost. I think I may have a vacuum leak. At idle, my boost gauge is -25 kg. or so. when revved it shoots to 0, but no boost. I have not pushed the car yet as it needs more tuning. Could this be a vacuum leak or some problem with the wastgate? |
Stock engine? Ported?
|
Rebuilt, stock port.
Also, what is the best way to check for vacuum leaks? |
i know on regular piston engines, normal vacuum is 18-21in Hg and i know its different for rotaries. i think its just a little bit lower
|
I get -15 to -17 on idle (stock 13B-REW engine)

as said before, at what rpm are you seeing this? Also, what is your gauge measuring vacuum in?
|
at around 700-800 rpm. guage is in hg (metric)

I see about -16hg at idle around 800rpm on my reman with 8k miles.

vacuum will vary by idle rpm and porting, electrical load, etc.
My vacuum is about 17" (425mm Hg) at normal idle with no load. My idle is about 850 rpm or so. |

I got 16 until i installed the midpipe and removed the airpump, now i see about 14. Streetported motor. 850 rpm.
