Vacuum Reading for a street ported motor?
What should the Vacuum reading be for a streetported motor?? Mine Vac's at about 12, do you think i have a vac leak? ill check all the hoses, but they were all replaced recently. Get back to me, peace.

~12-~13 if ia am not mistaken. i get that reading, and my motor was just redone by pettit. there was a thread on this last year sometime, and do not know if a search would get you any info on it cause i tis so old....

I don't know this from experience, but from what I've read it really depends on the porting. Mild-normal streetport should be around 15.. A heavy port would be around 10-12...

I have 2500 miles on my streetport and read 19-20 consistently:D KD Rotary streetported my motor.

i have an aggressive streetport and i'm reading 13 or so at idle

The gauge is right. My old motor with 72000 miles on it before the coolant seals went read 16-17 vacuum. When breaking in my motor I had 16-17 readings and KDR told me it would slowly climb as the engine wore in to around 18-19. At idle I've been reading between 18-20 but usually 19. I have a mild-port and uh, I think he did port it since my car pulls much harder up top:rolleyes:

i have only 1100 miles on the new/ported motor that pettit did for me, and the vacuum readings right now are 12-14.......and should get 'slightly' higher
btw, the vacuum readings on a ported motor will be LOWER than those of a non ported motor..... |
Kwikrx7, what kind of apex seals do you have in your engine? I ask because I thought I read a while back about people getting very good idle vacuum (even on a street port) with hurley seals. I tried a quick search to see if I could find where I read that, but I didn't have any luck.

I found it after searching further...read the 16th post down from the top...it's a post by gmonsen
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...&threadid=8781 He says that he is seeing 20-22 inches on his streetported motor with Hurley racing seals. |
I see ~19-20 on my streetport but I only have 25 miles on the engine.
http://www.nopro.com/~jedon/engine/ People have said the porting is pretty mild. I can't attest to the power yet since I'm still breaking it in. -Jedon |
