Don't tell me I'm wrong about something when you don't know a damn thing about the car. You obviously should take your car to someone who knows how to work on them, hell the car would be better off in Mazda mechanics hands then in yours....

well what is the answer to his question? i still dont understand what is happening to your car. what is the problem? is it that you cant idle? is it that you cant boost? are you complaining about no torque down low?

Your wrong. it should come down to 20 hg.
How, and why should it come down exactly to 20mmhg?


not solid vacuum under boost, i feel a strong pull from 20hg right up to 10psi.
Explain how you can SOLID vacuum under boost? You should not feel any pull at all at 20mmhg.


The other thing i would like to have answered is after adjusting the TAS would that have any effect on the Vacuum readings?
Well obviously it will. Try slowly depressing the accelerator pedal... what does the boost gauge do? it changes!


ok cool, so can someone explain to me why my idle wont hold when revving it up?
When you are revving the engine, I sure in the hell hope your idle isn't holding steady, you aren't technically idling at all, seeing you RPM's should be increasing with your "revving".


When the accessory like the fan runs, the car holds idle, when revving it up
Thats impossible.

An arrogant poster will get arrogant remarks if he acts like a jackass, can't form complete sentences to ask a question, and doesn't really even know what question he is asking.

I have been around this forum long enough to know when a person is seriously in need of help, and when a person just needs to settle down, and start doin some reading and researching... You my friend are a person that needs to read up on the car, and one day you won't be saying that you had to take it to your mechanic. You will be posting a write up on how to fix a problem, such as the vacuum not staying at 20mmhg while revving. You fix that problem and you will be an rx7 king.

I'm might be a smartass, but if you are in need of help and ask a serious question you will get a serious reply... Otherwise its fair game :bigthumb:

The problem is that you are not being clear about describing your issues. This has been repeatedly pointed out by several people. When you fail to clarify what your problems are, and then tell people that they are "wrong", you tend to piss them off a little.

Let's start with a working definition of "Idle"

Idle: foot is NOT on the throttle, the transmission is NOT engaged.

At idle, your engine should be turning over at around 750-850 RPM and creating about 16 in Hg of vacuum. If your foot is on the throttle *or* the transmission is engaged, then you are NOT at idle.

When you are driving along under a steady cruise (around 3k RPM, not accelerating), you will probably generate around 10 in Hg of vacuum.

If you let off the throttle at this point, you should see your vacuum readings go to 20-30 in Hg. This is normal. You engine is spinning faster and trying to suck more air in, but the throttle plates are closed and not allowing the air in, thus you generate more vacuum in the intake manifold.

So, is what you are saying is that you are having problems getting the car to rev back down and idle at the right speed after you have been on the throttle? What is your engine speed (RPM) and vacuum level when this happens?

So what's the word from your mechanic?

Even after Bill is nice and explains some terms and how idle and cruise vacuum readings change, RZRX7TT still answers with disregard towards more knowledgeable people.

Being an old senior member who doesn't give a shit ;

I suggest :
(1) he sell his car, it deserves a better owner.
(2) he buy a tricyle and learn how it works, and how to maintaine it.
(3) then proceed to a bicycle.
(4) then to some motorized two wheel vehicle.
(5) lastly buy a truck.
