Urgent - Nurburgring Tomorrow, Abs Problems!
 

Guys,

My ABS SUCKS! and its only recently.

Ive changed my fluid to motul RBF600 (dot 4) and changed my discs for drilled and grooved all round. Pads are mintex xtreme.

When i brake hard, the ABS nearly always cuts in, at all speeds, especially high speed, and it stops me from stopping, and really unsettles the car. The system has been bled through properly, and properly flushed. I have no ABS light on in the dash, and i dont believe the car has any fault codes although i havent checked.

Can i just pull the ABS fuse to disable the system? im confident enough to drive without it (i drove an 800kg 400bhp car for 4 years that had no ABS at all)

Any help or input appreciated guys as to what the problem could be.

when I had my ABS problems, I took the Fuse out until I got a new abs unit in.

I've read proper flushing with an ABS unit is with the IGN on, so the assembly is open...did you flush in this manner.

maybe someone who knows more (than reading the forum) can chime in.

If you pull the fuse it should disable it if thats what you want to do.

It wont make the car go into limp mode or anything?

no i didnt flush with the ign on, i thought this was only for cars with pressurised systems?

maybe ill try it while im there; im taking my tool kit, brake fluid and a bleed kit so ill give it a go.

I'd think for threshold braking the bias would be pretty wacked out if you pull the fuse but it sounds like you might be better off then your current situation :)

The ABS ECU is not related to the engine ECU so no worries with the limp mode situation.

If you need a new ABS ecu let me know hehe :)

Isn't the bias set purely by the proportioning valve and piston sizes? What role does the ABS play here?

pull the fuse and go have fun. (Envious)

then after running the Ring pull the abs period.

the ABS has no role in bias other than the proportioning valve, which does provide bias control, is bolted onto the unit. so when you junk it retain that part.

(if not tracking the car and not a superhero driver retain the abs.):)
