Upper starter bolt
Can anyone tell me the size of the bolt? I searched the fsm and found the following:
38-51{3.8-5.3,28-38} Problem is that i have no idea what that means? Can someone help me out? |
Its the same size as the bottom iirc. Its actually a bolt with a nut on the other side. The nut is hard to see but its there.
The bottom one does not have a nut on the other side. |

Look in the bottom-right of the illustration. That's the legend that shows how to interpret the torque spec.

he's asking what size the bolt is...ie. how long, thick and pitch. The thickness and pitch are the same as the lower bolt but is longer and has a nut on the back side. I'm not sure of the exact numbers though.

so i guess you are saying i should take the bottom one out and take it to a hardware store and find the same size but longer?
and yes im looking for the size of it, not what to torque it to. thanks |
Ok, i found the part number for the bolt: N326-18-X91, and i got a hint from Rich on what size to look for. Can any point me in the direction of how to translate the part number in to the size of the bolt?

The lower starter bolt is the same diameter and thread pitch. Remove it and take it with you. Technically since the top bolt uses a nut rather than screwing into the bellhousing the thread pitch can be whatever the heck you like, just use a bolt of the proper diameter and length. |
