Upgrading/replacing brakes concern
 

Hi all, I have a 2002 Rx7D3S Bathrust R edition, and i have read online that newer JDM models have different brakes (bigger 314mm compared to the 294mm usdm) but I measure my brakes and they are 294mm and 20mm thick all around.

Now my concern was that I need to replace /upgrade my brake pads, rotors and SS Lines but was wondering if my brakes measure the same as the usdm cars then the rotors and brake pads that are soldl online can fit in my car without issues?

There were only 2 versions of the brakes, the big Spirit R brakes and the "regular" brakes. It sounds like you have the regular brakes so you can use the commonly available pads and rotors.

If I am not mistaken, the larger Spirit R/RZ/99spec brakes use the same brake pads as the smaller USDM and earlier JDM variants. Also, the calipers can use the same brake lines.

Yep, as already stated above, a type R Bathurst R has the smaller brakes and uses the same parts as any other FD with the smaller brakes.

The larger brakes do indeed share the same pads as the smaller brakes too.

Of S8's, only the RS, RZ & SR got the larger brakes (With the exception of the SR type C, which had the smaller brakes, just painted red).

Cool! Mine is just an old S6 but I'll tell everyone it's a SR Type C. Sounds way less boring. :)

Go for it, pick up some SR badges and some red leather seats and you'll be set ;)....Oh and you'll need an auto swap :lol:.

As a side note, there is no such thing as a 2002 Type R Bathurst R; the R Bathurst R's are all 2001 models, if it's a Bathurst made in 2002 it'll be a Type R Bathurst ;).
