upgraded twins (BNR,M2,bi state,Knight sports)

I know that there have been lots of threads about upgraded tubo's I have searched, the threads I found are just too old. I did search google but came up empty handed other than BNR.

I am looking to find out which upgraded turbo's are still available, and where to get them.

I found refrences to BNR (found the website price and desciption) I know these are good.

M2, are these still available? How do they compare to the BNR's, where can they be found, price?

Knight sports, RF420 are these still available? How do they compare to the BNR's, where can they be found, price?

Bi State, are these still available? How do they compare to the BNR's, where can they be found, price?

Please help,

Thanks...

BNR's are the only USA side upgrades available (aside from the 99' Spec twins which really aren't an upgrade per say).

so M2 is gone, that would explain why I can't find a website.

The Knight sports aparantly use different cold side housings, does anyone have them?

M2 no longer exists. You might try seeing if FDNewbie can find you some Knightsports.

I would like to know the price as well

rynberg 04-30-07 08:02 PM

I would be very skeptical about the Knightsports without knowing EXACTLY what goes into them....I KNOW what's in my BNRs. :) And Bi-State, what a joke. God I hope the database is fully restored soon...

I'm running Wael's turbos, and they were modified by TEC (Turbo Engineering Corp) in Red B luff, California http://192.48.234.65/

They've worked flawlessly on my car.

Power output?

Bumb for any more info on the TEC turbo's,

here is the link to the FD product:

Ht17???

anyone heard of them?

gracer7-rx7 05-01-07 12:07 AM

IIRC, gcthree didn't notice a huge difference switching to those turbos. Don't mean to put words in his mouth but he doesn't come on here often. Probably a similar net effect as if going with the later efini twins.

BTW - check out www.windingroad.com
Great online mag :)

i'd stick with the bnr stage 3.

Mahjik 05-01-07 10:26 AM

Just FYI on Bryan at BNR:

pnoy1duh 05-01-07 10:31 AM

someone should start a support thread...that sucks

i've gone through the same thing as a kid falling on top of a kerosene(sp) space heater with a pot of boiling water on top of it, no fun

FDNewbie 05-01-07 10:59 AM

BNRs will by far make the most power. Other than that, I'd recommend the Knightsports RF-420 turbos, available in 3 trims, the highest making 420ps @ 1 bar.

I called TEC, whom gave me the following info:

there upgraded turbo, uses the OEM CHRA and shaft with a new compressor wheel

It also uses the OEM turbine, and can be clipped at addational cost

It uses 360 degree bearings and they claim its good to over 20 PSI

It costs 1750 with exchange

they claim that it can support 500 BHP at 1Bar, this is where they lost me as a potential customer

I am defanatly going with BNR for the following reasons:

warranty

he explains exactly what you get for your money and how much it costs up front

his website goes into great detail about the product

good reputation

superior product and good price

XxMerlinxX 05-01-07 03:13 PM

500hp at 14.5psi? Riiiiiight.

:rlaugh:

How do they run a 360-deg bearing with the OEM CHRA? Adding a bigger compressor wheel to the stock shaft just results in shaft breakage...most people figured that out about 8 years ago. That TEC product is a waste of money.
