Update: 3 days after purchase

Dont worry.. you wont see a whole "6 days after purchase" "9 days after" etc... I just wanted to share my ENTHUSIASM for this car with the rest of you ENTHUSIASTS!!! :D I have had this car (94 Base White RX-7 with borla cat-back) for 3 days now (as indicated by thread title) and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! (as if I could feel any other way about this car...:) !)

Ok, ok, i know.. enough of what you ALREADY know.. that this car is absolutely amazing..! I checked the previous owners maintenence records, noted the last oil change (less than 2k miles ago), bought new oil in preperation for changing it, and got a call from my buddy.

Long story short, I ended up doing something i normally would not have probably done, but i went to the "Dragway" or the "strip" or whatever (us 131 raceway in Martin, MI between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids). I will post slips on my later (when its done) to be disclosed web site, but for now (bear in mind my novice level of skill, and this being my first time to a "drag strip" in any car), my 1/4 ET was 14.190 at 100.23 mph. I am a road course/auto-x person at heart but i just had to when my buddy invited me down...

I know that I am not providing anyone with any really relavent/useful information.. BUT at least i did not make a list of N00Bish questions ;)... and I just felt like sharing a GOOD experience with the RX-7.:D

By the way.. this car had approx 18.5k miles on it when i got it.. it just turned 19:( i was just wondering if anoyone else ever feels guilty when driving around in their lower mileage 3rd gen just for the fun of it... i know that I do...
But then im like.. "gawsh darn it this car was MADE to be DRIVEN and I am going to ENJOY it cause winter comes all too soon!!" So.. yea.. since i am not just keeping this car to seel it in 10 years as a collectors piece, i guess i dont feel TOO bad (plus i am overcome with pure driving satisfaction whenever I am "piloting" this "rotary rocket"

Don't feel bad, that car was made to be driven.

You're are not alone... I mean ... any excuse to get behind the wheel is all I need. Now... my wife complains from time to time because she knows when I go out in the REX.... I'm likely to well, get crappy gas mileage ... :angel:happens when ya have a lead foot:devil:... but hey... like you said these cars are a blast to drive:D ... so, no! I don't feel guilty putting the mileage on... I look forward to it. :fruit: :fruit: :hah: :wave:

this car rocks and is the epitimy of coolness in all posative senses of the word. I have had indescribable ammounts of fun with this car in the last 3/4 days that i have owned it... and NOW i want ot know MORE!! ive scoured the board head to toe FULL of relevant, non-stagnant iinformation that has REALLY helped my figure myself out as to what happens to the rex next :D I just needed a direction in which to start... AEM EMS in preparation for other mods? Start on midpipe downpipe, etc (since i already have borla catback), or work on fuel system buildup be4 mods??? THose questions are KEY to me understanding what I am doing here and what I am dealing with.. THanks for ANY input.... for me, more is better!!! :D

Hi, Clockworkb. Its nice to see another person from MI., with an fd.. So, how did you like martin dragway? Anyway, your 1/4 mile time seems a bit high. I think alot of it has to do with you just not being used to the car. One of the most important key mods that you can ever have, is a boost gauge. The boost gauge will tell you how your turbo system is running. Then your next mod "like you stated" should be a dp. Theres no better feeling then hearing your turbos pre-spool. Then you can work on some reliable mods.

Before winter hits, I would like to take a few runs at 131. If I do, I will pm ya, and we'll see if we can get a few rotories together. Or if you are running, get ahold of me. Good luck with everything, and if you need some advise just pm me.

ahhhhh i am gald you brought that up man!! My Next need-not-even-mention mod was going to be a boost gauge.. that is KEY!! haha so important i didnt even think about it!! Whereabouts in MI are you from? oh and yes.. the times i pulled that night were sooo due to my inexperience as a rx7 driver AND as a person who has never before drag raced.... if ya do the runs, for sure PM me and also I LOVE gingerman raceway... so i will PM ya if i go over there , and please feel free to do the same to me.... im up at grand valley state.. or down home in benton harbor area

ClockoworkB, I am also a new FD owner (4 months) and am in the area. Keep me in mind when you get together I live in South Bend IN. I've done several mods and currently have turbo issues and an oil leak. I'm planning on Chicago Sept 6th hope to see you there. Welcome to the FD Family!

trust me your joy wont end, i've had mine a year and i still go out for pointless drives beaming from ear to ear :D

IMHO the midpipe is one of the last mods you should do. It is the cheapest, easiest way to get power, but having all that extra flow with the stock IC is just a bad idea.

Do the intake, IC, downpipe and ECU, then do a midpipe later. Boost control doesn't always work out with a midpipe and the above mods either. You may have to put a restrictor in the exhaust anyway.
