Unflooding.To EGI or not to EGI.

It's not necessary to remove the EGI Fuse to unflood the FD. However, every other thread I've read sais you should.

Needless to say I've tryed with just putting the pedal down while starting and it didn't work. (Although it may be heavily flooded. I don't know.)

What have people found as the most successful method of unflooding?

pull the EGI... foot to the floor generally cuts fuel, but if your throttle cable wasn't adjusted right i imagine it could make things worse.

Im in the same situation myself.

Although my problem is not flooding but i did try the EGI trick but nothing. Not sure if that helps in the actual unflooding procedure for FD's.

BTW, i have done numerous times the start and shut off in my car and it never flooded.

Are you sure your car is flooded?

When I have flooded my car I always pulled the egi. It has worked every time for me just fine.

Make sure you clean your plugs real good before you put them back in. Ive found thats key. That is if you arent replacing them all together.

It flood for me. One in 6 month. Well the mechanic did it. I tryed the foot to the floor and it didn't work. Probably made things worse or by the time I tryed it was too flooded. Not sure which. Didn't try the EGI trick. I'll give that a shot next time.

The only way I got it unflooded at that point was taking plugs out and cleaning then. Then it started fine.

Anyone else have any experience with either methods, so I know whats best to try before taking out flugs?

just take the EGI fuse....that's what I did for my friends car and unfloded it quicker...

Technically, you don't have to pull the EGI fuse. "foot to the floor" cuts the injectors when cranking the vehicle. But you can pull it, if it makes you feel better.

Yeah, i think taking out the EGI assures people that there will be no fuel going in when cranking cause some people are hesitant when putting their throttle to the floor on an FD for any reason lol :D

it takes 10 seconds to pull the egi so why not, has worked for me and i'd rather not take chances with a wrongly adjusted pedal ^

I know, i would do the same if my car was flooded. I was just saying for the people who dont take out the EGI.

removing the plugs and squirking some oil into the chamber will help. Apex seals need oil to create a good combustion chamber.

That would be transmission fluid.
