twins are dying, motor may be ok.

soooo, i bought the beater rx7 (some of you may have seen the thread) and it's slowly dying. it basically blows every color smoke out of the exhaust and misfires like it's going out of style. i don't drive it at all...i'm waiting to build it.

so i got bored and pulled the throttlebody to take a look at the coilpacks, and then i changed the sparkplugs...same thing...no difference in the way it runs. BUT i did notice the river of oil that was running through my intake track. and i also noticed alot of oil in and around the turbo area.

so against my better judgement and clean nature, i'm gonna crawl back underneath the car and test compression on this 120,000 mile original motor. if compression reads ok...then it could possibly just be a turbo problem. i would assume that if one or more of the turbos is leaking oil quite badly and pushing it into the intake system, then this could be the cause of the misfiring (oil on plugs constantly) and odd color smoke. and the car runs stupid rich....i have no way to check boost levels at the moment...so i don't know if the turbos are even boosting normally...and if they aren't, that might explain an excess amount of fuel being pushed through the system.

these are my current thoughts on the situation. i should have compression numbers by tonight....i REALLY doubt the motor is good...but it might be funny if it was. i already have another motor in the works. i could get a set of stock twins and roll around in the fd until the engine build is done instead of having to buy a beater when i sell my current car.

so am i totally off base here?

120k on both? Both turbos and engine are probably going...

i don't doubt the engine is going...but maybe it isn't gone quite yet.
