Turn the key... delayed ignition?
I think something may be going out... for the past few months my car has been doing this weird starting problem. I'll turn the key and then aboout a second later the car turns over. I did it this morning and the car made no reaction at all... let the clutch go turned the turbo timer off and re-tried it...then the car started... Any ideas of what i'll be replacing soon? haha Thanks much!

- ap Sounds like it can be your starter starting to go out. -AzEKnightz |
Hmmm... good point. I actually just took the car home and it started perfectly fine just a few min ago... maybe inadequate charging? Alternator possibly? Thanks brotha!

1. dirty contacts/ sluggish solenoid action (gummed up) on starter solenoid 2. sluggish security relay (Goodfella had a thread on this) 3. dirty/worn out ignition key unit in the column (several threads on how to fix/clean this) 4. dirty/worn out clutch switch. There are also probably some other possibilities, but those came immediately to mind. |
Ignition switch, security relay behind driver's kick panel, the starter wiring, or the starter itself. I install a relay and run separate power to the stater and usually that helps.

The starting system is one of the simplest systems in this car, finding the cause of a starting problem, therefor, is one of the easiest. Here is what you need to do.
