TurboXS showing FD love!
Well its been a long time coming for a bolt on kit for the fd. Because of my recent purchase I was able to check the blow off valve kits on my car. It turns out that to use our BOV-H and BOV-RFL valves, all you need is our H-Supra adapter kit. It goes on easy in about 10 minutes if you know what your doing. Once again to avoid the topic, BLOW OFF VALVES ARE NOT A PERFORMANCE MOD.
Personally I am gonna run the RFL pointing up as in the picture... I wouldent suggest that for everyone because debris will get into the valve causing it to seize. I have a somewhat unlimited supply so I can do that tho :p: Michael~TXS (ill post the pic later today) |
if you are affiliated with turbo xs... are u making any performance parts for the rx7? turbo kits? downpipes? or anything unique in the works?
|
Actually I work for TurboXS... been here a little over a year. Unfortunatly we arent going to be making any performance parts for the rx7. Only the universal BOV's and the boost controllers. however their might be some interesting "universal" parts in the future that would go nicely on a RX7.

so please make your post clearer, we just buy the supra kit and we can use turboxs blowoff valves on our cars?
|
that's interesting i was wondering why your username was XS ;)
|
all you need to run our blow off valve is the valve... :p: and the H-Supra adapter kit. The adapter kit comes with a hose adapter that will go into the stock line that connects to the y pipe. The other side bolts directly to the valve. The valve itself just kinda rests on the stock hoses.

Not to mention cheaper than the comparable BOV's. I plan to buy some more products from you guys again in the future. |
I have the dual-stage boost controller and love it! No clunky EBC box with useless features to clutter up the interior, just a nice hi-low switch. I installed the switch on the center console between my defrost and foglight switches.

Its nice to hear from some satisfied customers for a change!! People basically never call to just say they're happy :P

*BUMP*
before i ask my question, i would like to thank xstransam for posting this thread for me to find knowing i can get the turboxs h-rfl BOV (my fav) and putting it on my fd.. anyway, i have a question regarding this installation..in the package came 6 metal spacers, now they said to only use them if the idle is funky.. ok i didnt do that yet, i left the bov alone with no spaces put in yet, i went to test it out and i heard no sound at all from like 1000-6500rpm.. im like ok, i hit it hard to about 7500rpm and out came this tremendous sound like omg, it was loud.. my next door neighbor was having a bbq and they ran over to my yard thinking i popped my motor or something, it was LOUD! anyway, thats not the point, my intention before i bought this was to have a PSSHH sound at low revs as well as high, now i know the stock bov was perfect.. i know, i wanted something more, strictly for sound.. anyway, i dont feel like revving it to 7500 just to hear the psshh sound.. i also noticed that this BOV is meant for engines boosting 10-25psi.. currently, im at 8psi on low boost (i have the turboxs 2 stage boost controller) and im non seq.. now, the question is, will these spacers given in the package allow me to set to where i want the sound? like the more washers i put, the lighter the rev will be in order to hear the sound? so far the car is sitting in under the cover, im not gonna touch it until i get an answer.. sorry for the long post and please get back to me.. thanks |
hmm, blowoff valves are cool, but the sound of a external wastegate is so much more sexy :P~

i agree with Black 99, give us some and let us try them out to give feedback. We will be beta testers, You wouldnt even have to pay us! :)

The bov should sound whenver you have boost pressure in the piping, however this may be a little later since you are non-seq, the washers help to stiffen the spring for cars that the valve sits open at idle. If your valve is open at idle you should add washers until it is closed, i have three in my car. You can also adjust how quickly the valve will open when releasing the throttle by adding more washers, this is favorable for dragracing and autocrossing.
make sure you installed the valve in the bov tube and not the crv spot, it should look like this http://img65.photobucket.com/albums/...l/DCP_1228.jpg |
I've got the RFL on my car and it really is Real Fuckin Loud. I recently got the H spec Supra adaptor when the piece of shit rubber hose split from heat. I have the old larger aluminum fitting if anyone wants it.

because you plugged it into the crv's dump tube. . . for correct installation take your xs bov out. put the stock crv back into its stock location. take the stock bov out (the valve on the BOTTOM of the airbox) and replace it with your new xs bov. . . all i have to say is whoa. :D

it doesnt matter where it evacs to. . . just where it evacs FROM. make sure you have your crv and bov in the right places in relation to the turbos.

^The valves are where they should be, it's just the position the stock dump valve is at. That's all. Thanks rotorbrain.

hmm
yeah xstransam, my setup looks exactly like yours except my bov pressure opening is pointing to the side rather than upwards like yours.. ill try to fool around with the washers and take a pic of it thanks alot |
ok, i just fooled around with it, i added 2 washers and the sound wasnt that loud as it was without any washers.. i added 2 more, total of 4 and same result. finally i added all 6 and still the same.. i think im gonna take them all out cause the sound was at its loudest without any washers..
thanks guys |
