Turbos leaking oil (with a twist)

I love this car :)
This is long sorry...

I jacked up my car to change the clutch and noticed oil leaking from the turbos. I couldnt notice where the front one was leaking but the back one was leaking where the intake comes down and connects to it.

Now the interesting *twist*
The oil leaking out of my turbos is dark black crap, which is odd cause my oil only has maybe 50 miles on it..I check the dip stick and I see nice clear clean oil...hmmmmmmmmmmm

I pop off the pipe after the Ypipe and I see more of this dark black oil.....
What gives?? Ive done my reading and nothing really clears this up....The catch can is in the mail but i dont think that it will clear it up...

Now the only thing I can think of is at one point I forgot and looped the two nipples on the filler neck together...I drove 5 miles like this..When I got i home realized what I did...I could only think that this caused to much pressure in the engine and forced it through the seals in the turbos..maybe????

thanks guys....

Old residue in the intake system...Make yourself a paper gasket from the steel original, no more leak.

why would I have oil in the intake system....

Oh also I am not running the line from the filler neck to the turbo intake its just vented...

ya i had oil in my intake side, past the intercooler then boom! not good, i hope its just a loose line or a bad gasket!

send the turbo's out to get rebuilt, the seals that seperate the oil to cool and lube the bearings have a leak. may cause to much oil in the engine and could foul the plugs

the motor is brand new im certain its not that...they just need to last the season..after that ill get them rebuilt....

anyone have any idea why the oil leaking from the turbos looks really old???

This has me thinking theres a blockage or something

Oil in the intake system is NORMAL. I also see 3rd gens dripping oil from the turbos ALL the time. The oil has been in your intake system for a while (dirty) and it's dripping off dirty turbos.

Most likely you shouldnt worry about that oil in the intake. There is always blow by from the turbos. There is no way to make a perfect seal and something spinning as fast as the turbos is always going to leak a bit. The oil builds up in the intake sits there for quite some time. That is why it seems so old, because it is old. Take apart your intake, see how much oil is in there. Everything will be coated, that is normal. If oil is pooled up and you can pour it out that is not normal and will more than likely require turbo replacement/rebuild. If nothing pours out replace the intake to turbo gasket and make sure to properly torque the nuts.

The reason you have oil in the intake side is because the BOV and CRV both purge oil enriched compressed air after the turbos. The intake then sucks it back up, drips down the intake elbow.

Like everyone else has said, don't worry about it until you have a quart of oil in your intercooler. Well, maybe a little sooner than that. Hell, maybe I should sell an intercooler dipstick mod just for this purpose.
