Turbo uprgrade?
 

Ok i hve search on here and google and i couldnt find my answer. I've been out of the rotary game for some years after my second gen i went to honda's(yea yea yea) But im gonna be purchasing a 3rd gen by next summer which is my favorite car. But the question is can some one get me a link or info on upgrading the sequential turbo's setup or going single turbo setup on the FD? I would like to have this info before i purchase the car so i can have the majority of the money saved to already upgrade once the car is in my hands. O and i really dont know the WHP ranges any more for Qt times so im looking to daily drive a mid 11sec FD.

Do yourself a favor and go with a BB single. GT35R's are great street turbo's, but there are other good options as well.

I personally think the twins attribute to much of the reliability issues with FD's. It's all about thermal efficiency.

Water injection, effective heat shielding, and a very good tune will go a long way for good power reliably....

Stock twins are a waste of time in my opinion. Unless you have a known good set, I wouldn't mess with them. If you are set on twins, look into some BNRs. For a good streetable single I recommend a 35R.

Well I had my integra fully built with a precision sc61 turbo......so what is the price range for changing over to a single turbo setup? I know I can get a real gt35r for about 900.00 so other then that what would be my price range? Also is there internal work needed?

You're looking at 6-8k in parts alone to do it right starting from a stock car.

The BNRs are great if your budget is $2500ish instead of $6000. This may be a good option for you:

I have 6-8k in the engine alone......
nevermind the GT3574r kit from A-spec, the gz lim and oil pan, the new pfc with commander and dataloggit, the (soon) atomicrex steering rack, the new tfent carpet, twin power, delrin bushing set, omp adapter, stainless omp lines, stainless brake lines and clutch line, etc... etc... etc...


Set a budget, map everything out. Plan for fuel system, turbo, a way to control your fuel, and plan for a section of your budget "freshening up" your old oem parts in the engine bay.

Don't just go into it without a plan... otherwise you end up where I am. 15k in, and still 8k away.

What is important budget wise is to start from a car already in good condition. Stock or modified. If the previous owner did things half-assed, it is always more expensive to fix mistakes then to have just done the job right the first time.

The GT35R is a great turbo for you. Most of the questions you have asked are answered in the single turbo section if you would like more complete answers.

One thing that almost never fails is that when you get into doing a lot of work in the engine bay of a car as old as this you will run into several maintenance items that need to be addressed while you are in there. It is an old car and things are just worn out. Replace everything along the way as you come to it and it will save you a lot of headache in the end. I think I spent close to $10K on my single swap and that is with a car that was very well cared for. Although that included the turbo kit, fuel kit, GZ LIM and new clutch/flywheel. I did all the work myself and paid Steve to tune it.
