turbo question
Ok need some advice on what to do next. I just find out today that i will need new turbos. Should i Save my money and go single or just rebuild the turbos. It is my daily driver but i dont go far maybe 20mins a day. I have a koyo rad and a downpipe with a catback and a pettit intake. I am in the process of buying a power fc. Would it be better for me to stay with twins or go single. Its a daily driver but i also do a little racing on weekends.

What do you want out of the car? Going single at your modding stage will cost at least $6k, if not more. Rebuilds are $800 from BNR plus install labor. Brand new 99-spec twins are $3k plus install labor.

I want somthing that will be streetable. Nothing that you just take to the track or try and get the best rwhp. I could care less i want it to be fast but yet reliable. What would give me the best preformance for the street.

BNR stage 2's

Buy some used twins in the parts for sale section.

I don't know about used twins. Some people want so much freaking money for them. Depending on your goals, you might just wanna go for a rebuilt set. I think rx7store and gotham racing had some for about $1k.
I have been contemplating the single vs. twins lately also and I must say that there is a compelling long term case for a good single kit like the 35/40 or rx6. It depends on how long you are gonna own the car and your overall goals. Some single kits are real nice now with little lage. |
I've picked up good working twins for under 300 multiple times...It is risky though because you really don't know what you are getting with them. snagalittle you have a PM from me. Alberto everyone wants a single but not everyone can really afford $3+k for a kit then another 3 for the other stuff you need.

rebuilt twins also have this bad habit of crapping out on you pretty fast...there is actually a thread right now about new vs rebuilt turbos..either here or single turbo section. Most agree that our twins are not 100% rebuildable...it also says that in Jack Yamgucci's book I believe

Get the 99s. you will have a good Hp and still have a chance at smog and alright gas mil.

A few guys have gone this way and seem happy with them but personally I think they are too pricey for something that isn't that large of an upgrade. They do spool a tad faster and make a bit more power, just not enough for me to shell out that type of cash.
