Turbo leak
1 Attachment(s)
Is that normal for leaking out from those waste gate joint ?
|
No.
|
The oil is leaking out of either your turbo seals or coming from inside the motor. You are seeing it there because there is no seal or gasket where the wastegate pin goes through the manifold. If you pull off your downpipe you should see it in the turbine housing.

These factory turbos are not rebuildable, right?

While technically you can rebuild the stock turbos, no reputable turbo rebuilder will do it anymore because they all fail. The extreme heat these units generate warp the housings so the new bearings and seals won't seat correctly, causing premature failure. Your options are to get a know working used set, a set of 99 twins, or best yet a set of BNRs. I can help you with any of these.

Set of BNR's is what I have my eyes set on as soon as my budget allows. That Silver FD you built has served as inspiration for me.
