Turbo banjo bolt torque specs (oil and water)

Could someone give me the torque specs for the banjo bolts that connect the hard water and oil lines to the stock turbos? I have searched the site and have not been able to find it in the FSM. i really need to get this right sinct I understand the oil banjo bolts are fragile and because I had a water leak at the water bolt. (PO reused the crush washers, I think)

Thanks
Tom

I've got the specs at home. They were provided with the Turbo rebuild instructions I got some time ago. I'll post the torque specs later tonight.

Thanks, areXseven. I am hoping to get this the car zipped up tonight after work and be on the road tomorrow.

Anybody know these torque specs? I can't find them. Thanks.

Sorry,I was wrong. The Turbo rebuild instructions do not contain the torque specs you need.

Thanks for checking. I did it by feel. I think I have a good seal without damage to the bolts. Almost got the job done, but got tired and started dropping stuff around 2AM. TOMORROW!

BTY thanks for the great thread on your turbo rebuild. A very interesting read despite the problems encountered.

BTY thanks for the great thread on your turbo rebuild. A very interesting read despite the problems encountered.

FYI:
Conclusions on my "Turbo rebuild gone wild" was that I over-tightened the Compressor Nut, which cracked the PLate Seal. That's what caused the loud whine as there was too much friction on the Turbine wheel. It didn't spool fast enough to create boost.

Anyway, good luck with your project.

there don't appear to be any official specs for the banjo bolts but there are other specs. see page C-93 of the workshop manual for the turbocharger torque specs section.

You need to tighten the banjo bolts enough to crush the copper crush washers. Might want to look up the torque specs on other banjo bolts on the motor, it's most likely very similar.

Might also be worth calling BNR Supercars and see if Bryan knows.

just going to bring this back from the dead , hoping someone managed to figure this out ?

I just tighten it up snug. You can feel the crush washer crushing as you tighten, it's not too tricky.

If you are re-using the copper crush washers, heat them to red hot with a propane torch. This will re-soften them. Then, lap them on some fine grit sandpaper to make the surface smooth.
