trying to mount the AST after a ASP SMIC install

Hello,

I just installed my ASP smic. Although it took me awhile, (getting it to fit right) I finally got it in. However, I don't have a place to mount the AST (from PettitRacing). I was woundering if any of you had this problem and if you have some suggestions, pics that would be great. I was almost thinking of mounting it on the smic, right under the duct that leads to the throttle-body. I am heistant to drill a couple of sheet metal screws into a brand new ic. But, if it does not effect anything, maybe I can go that route. Please let me know.

Thanks for the pics. they look good. Looks like you can drill into the smic to mount a bracket.

I would just weld a bracket. Like the PFS SMIC

Ack, don't drill into the IC. I normally assume people will simply delete the AST but if you need to keep it there are a lot of different ways to mount it depending on what else you have done. If you want to do a simple L bracket either have it welded on or use a good epoxy. Putting a screw into it is just asking for a leak later down the road.

from looking at the pictures above, screwing it on the fiberglass air duct isn't too bad. or maybe welding a bracket to the ic would be good too. But if I am going to do that, I would need to get a smaller battery. The battery is tight with the ic.

Ack, agreed. No need to drill or fabricate anything. Just hang it off the cold-side IC pipe with another coupler. Look up under my username for a pic of that mounting style on my PFS intercooler.

Just by the new cap and neck and remove it

Here, I have a PFS SMIC, but this idea should work with your ASP. No drilling, fabricating, etc. This has been rock solid for almost 2 years of auto-x/track days.
