Transmition problem need help
 

Just finished a motor swap, Motor is running great.

I cant seem to get it into gear. Clutch and flywheel are new and I bleed the slave on the trany till no more air came out. but after start when i push in the clutch abd try to place in gear it wont go. I dont want to force it in and make it grind.

Is there somthing else i may be forgeting to do?
Or maby some thing i should check?

any one have any pictures from the service window in trany?

any help would be great

Check to see if the slave cylinder is leaking. The boot will sometimes break the seal because of pressure.

you thinking the boot thats in the trany on the push end?, or the one on the end of the bleeder?

as far as i can tell im not loosing fluid. Every thing is moving with the clutch but i dont think maby its pulling it far enuf.

I'll try checking the boot tonight and the inside of the clutch area for any lost fluid. still at work ATM

if any one else has any ideas feel free to give them that way i can try and check them all :) Its been a long time i cant wait to drive it again.

1) Look to see if your clutch fork has cracked. It's prone to breaking, especially if you put in a heavier clutch.

2) Look to see that you engaged the wire ring/wedge collar correctly. If it's not locked into the clutch, the clutch can't release.

3) Look to see that the piston of the slave cylinder is seated in the depression on the end of the clutch fork.

Hmmm i pushed the wedge collar in but it only snaped in so far, i bet thats it. The books dont explain this to well so i wasnt sure if i had it right.

Is there a good method to get it to snap all the way in?

Like dgeesaman said check to make sure that your clutch release fork isn't craked. I had this happen to me back in November. There is a little "inspection plate" on your transmission, open that and then take a mirror & flashlight and look. On mine, 1/2 of the fork was broken off and I found the piece laying on the bottom of the housing. Good luck!

Take the inspection plate off on the top side of the transmission, right above the slave cylinder, there are one or two 10mm bolts holding it down. Look with a flashlight and see if the fork arm is pushing against the rod and the rod against the slave arm. If that's ok then pull the one off the bottom and make sure everything is aligned.

Did you take two screwdrivers and push the throwout bearing cage back until it caught? (You can do that through the inspection plate on the bottom). Make sure you do that first.

Oh, I used to live in Oak Harbor.

Possible pilot bearing problem? If that is severely dragging, it will feel like the clutch is not disengaging.

Are you sure that the clutch disk is not installed backwards? This is not that hard to do by accident (I did it once!). Symptom is everything checks out, but the darn thing just refuses to go into gear with the engine running.

Could also be a problem with the release bearing/wedge collar or a severely damaged pilot bearing.

You just pry the fork forward and the throw out bearing will lock into the collar when the fork moves back to its neutral postion.

From what i remember it does not sit perfectly flush with the clutch. To make sure everything is working fine just have someone step on the clutch when you are looking through the inspection plate. If everything is looking okay and you have good pressure at the pedal and you do not have any leaks. I would try adjusting the clutch master cylinder. Just legthen the rod attached to the clutch pedal.

The only clutch disc that i can possibly think that you can put in backwards would be a puck style disc without springs. Becase its much thinner than a stock disc. You would notice if you put the stock disc in backwards when you tighen the bolts.
