Transmission drain plug gaskets - OEM or Auto parts store?
 

I'm replacing the transmission and differential fluid. Looks like I need 3 identical aluminum drain plug gaskets. Do I need to get these from Ray Crowe or can I try and find some locally. Does anybody know if they are M14 or something else? I hate to have to order something so small from Ray but if need be...

I can tell you that oil pan crush rings left over from my 1995 Mazda 929 fit perfectly on the tranny/diff drain plug gaskets. That part number is 9956-41-800. However, you should be able to get appropriate sized aluminum crush rings from your local parts store. If you need ID/OD, thickness and width measurements from my crush rings, just let me know.

I know this is old, but I have looked all over and could not locate the identical crush washer oil drain gaskets by themselves, unless you buy the M18 drain plug and even then you are paying like $3-4/per plug/washer.

I am going to buy a large supply hopefully and get GB started if there is enough interest.

I was looking for these a bit ago, and also couldn't find any. Odd for a part that is considered consumable. I re-used mine, and it's holding oil fine, but would like some for next time around. I might just machine my own next time, but I'll sub to this post in case there is interest :)

I suggest you anneal the washer before you re-use it.
This will bring back the soft properties of the washer and it will seal as a new one.

Without knowing the grade of aluminum, I can't know if it can be annealed at all. But being that is aluminum, it's fairly soft even having been work hardened the first time. It sealed just fine, so there was some workability left.. this time anyway :)
