Yup, it's a milk jug - a standard 1 gallon milk jug.

The numbers are inches.

This has been very handy for getting just the right amount measured for refilling the diff and tranny.

No, I don't know why the picture is sideways, no time to deal with it now.

Nice idea, but you just fill the trans or diff until it runs out the fill hole as stated in the shop manual.

exactly....the car will tell you when it's had enough fluid. No measurement devices needed.

And the procedure in the manual is more trouble, this is easier.

There is no need to pull the hose out of the diff/trans to check the level.
Just empty the jug.

Whatever, some may appreciate a little less work.
