Tranny options

So I was curious about tranny options. I'm running a 99 type RS with a ported motor and EFR 9174. I can get stock transmissions for about 120-200 here in Japan, but was hoping there were some other options. I know the T56 swap has been popular for the US guys, but finding a T56 is highly unlikely here. OS giken gear sets are about 3k. I'll be doing touge and gymkhana as well as street driving until the new circuit course gets built.

Open to any suggestions you guys have. Probably looking to tune it to around 550ish.

People have created the beginnings (i.e. the adapter to the motor/bellhousing) for both the Supra and 370Z transmissions, but they are a long way from being a bolt-up kit.

I would go with a stock transmission with one of the adapters that lets you run more gear oil in it. Run it with a good synthetic gear oil and see how it does. If it fails, go from there.

It may be just fine for your car and other options get so crazy expensive. It's worth running it like that first IMHO.

Yeah, if you're balking at the cost of OS Giken internals, you might as well forget those other conversions. You could run a deeper oil sump, or do an actual transmission cooler with a pump and external heat exchanger.
