TPS readings

A little further down I have a folks regarding and idle issue on my recently engine replace FD RX-7. I have been retesting sensors and checking vacuum lines for 2 weeks now. I was a readjusting the throttle position sensor today and I believe the readings are a bit weird so I'd like to validate with you guys here.

The upper wire, the narrow range, Falls within spec (.75-1.25) with the throttle plate closed. I have it currently set to read about .95 volts with the throttle closed. When I hit wide open throttle, it reads right at 5 volts, So based on this the throttle position sensor is not bad according to the FMS..... But i cannot find information on what os what's supposed to happen with the voltage in between. I assume that it's supposed to go completely linear from .95 to 5 volts and hit 5 volt just you hit WOT. What happens instead is it hits 5 volts at approximately one-third throttle application. I believe this overzealous voltage application is causing all of my issues that mirror a narrow range failure symptoms.

The wide range does exactly the linear voltage I expected and hits Max voltage at wide open throttle. Should the narrow range do this exact same thing?

I would really like to clarify this before I go out and spend a couple hundred dollars on a sensor I may or may not need. Thanks!

The narrow range sensor is just for fine measurements of the lower 1/3 of the throttle range (cruising ,daily driving areas).

that's why its called narrow range

Well, there goes that theory!

Yup.... narrow range will top out before reaching full throttle. Your test showed the correct results.
