Torsen Gear Lsd
hello people
i just got my self a new rx7 a type R 2002 model i ve ordered a LSD but i am not quite sure if i ve done the right selection for the LSD its the JDM RX-7 FD3S TORSEN GEAR LSD 13B-T 13B-REW and i got it for $370 with the shipping to europe included (from japan) and the other thing, which is the best engine oil for the fd3s? the mobil 1 or has anything new came out or something else i dont know? thank you |
did you get that LSD from ebay? if so, i would be wary of using it.
The FDs came with the torsen LSD from the factory. You don't need another one. For oil, I use synthetic. Redline, Amsoil, Idemitsu, Royal Purple in 20w50. |
japanese imports dont have a lsd on
yeah i got it from ebay from japan |
where do u live in cyprus? greek or turkish side? some of my friends went to Univ. there..
there's alot of nice JDM's in Cyprus... can u post some pics of your car? |

all imported fd's here come with lsd standard which i believe is the same as everywhere.
|
JDM's come with a torson

I don't think the FD was ever available without a limited slip. Easy test, jack up the rear wheels off the ground and spin one, if the other one spins the same direction, you have an LSD, if it spins the opposite way, you have an open diff, i highly doubt that will happen.

check out the japanese imports
the main differences of the imported and the non imported is the differential, sun roof, and cruise control and the speedometer is blocked up to 180kmph instead of 180mph I am from the greek site of cyprus Ottoman, Rx7s over here are damn cheap,(a bit more expensive than japan, few hundred pounds and the steering wheel is on the right) insurance is very very cheap so everyone is getting cars like that but no one knows how to rebuilt the rotary engine in the whole island i know many guys trying to have their cars rebuilt but noone of them could last over 6 months i dont know how to post pictures from over here so if someone wants to see pictures of the rx7 i am expecting and the other rx7s i had in the past guide me how to post a picture in the forum hehe thank you con |
Hell, fly me out there, pay all my expensives during my vacation, and I'll rebuild them all :D
|
rx7maniac13b, you are wrong. EVERY production FD came with a Torsen LSD.

dude trust me...
on the japanese specs theres no limited slip differential but it comes stock on the american-european edition |

Well, it's like I always say: What you buy on e-bay, you can sell on e-bay (though usually for less.)
|
anywayyyyyyys,
if you wanted a LSD for your FD, you'd want one from a 99+ as those are said to be the beefiest. (although it is hard to beleive any FD came without an LSD!) |

Ah, I forgot it was viscous diffs that didn't always "show themselves" with the wheels off the ground test. You can always do the "try to stop one wheel while idling in first with the wheels off the ground test" though its a little dangerous...Actually on second thought im not even sure if that one works that well, i think it will be harder to stop one wheel than an open diff, but if you really grab a hold of it it will still stop...
