torque brace fitment problem

Did anyone have problems fitting their torque brace/dampener over their brake pipes? I tried installing my gotham racing torque brace this morning but the dampener touches one of the brake pipes. It just sits on top of it instead of hovering over it. I think they are called brake pipes (shop manual page P-20). In the other pictures I have seen of installed braces, the same pipes are running much lower than mine for some reason. Any ideas? thanks and merry xmas!

Do you have any pictures of your install? From what I remember, my brake lines were bendable, almost to the point of posable when I installed my brace. Maybe yours got bent out of shape at some earlier date and were never replaced right?

Just bend the lines down. Grip the lines with as much of your finger area as you can and roll your fingers across the lines in a pushing/sliding motion downwards. You want to bend them downwards, not kink them.

Just snapped one. Hopefully it will attach and make clear what I am talking about. The lines are hard and I wanted to bend them but was afraid of making kinks. I just laid the brace on top of the lines for the picture and did not bolt it in.

The should be able to be moved slightly downward so you can avoid the brace. They can be bent, just do it carefully. Clayne's procedure sounds like it should work pretty well.

The red damper portion of the brace attaches to the Upper Intake Manifold bracket, and the silver rod end of the brace attaches to the passenger fender wall bracket, on the top side of the bracket and through the hole closest to the edge of the bracket :).
