Torque Brace with Dampner?
I was just surfing through all the posts talking about torque braces. I am in the camp that would not want one without a dampner.
However, someone mentioned the HPI one with the shock isn't really a true shock--and potentially provides no damping. What's the scoop and what torque braces with dampners are available? Thanks for any info. |
Check out the Feed Dampener at www.jt-imports.com. Am thinking of getting that myself.

The one Garfinkle makes has rubber bushings on the ends of the connecting rod to completely stop the vibrations in the car.

My Father in law and I fabricated a real heavy duty torque brace over the weekend, and I'll post some pics once it gets back from being powdercoated. I installed it without rubber bushings, and did get some vibration, but when I re-install it I will be using rubber bushings on both ends.
We fabbed it out of 1" diameter steel pipe, and it looks incredible. We are considering a production run if anyone is interested. I'll post pics once I get it back, both on and off the car, along with an idea of price and turn around time! |
Vintage Red - would like to see those pics!

i have heard that it helps with missing third gear. i know thats that is a common mistake when shifting. it helps keep everything lined up...
i think that its prob the most under rated brace you can get... later sully |
yeah, it does help with third but that is not the greatest part, as people with them know, it just makes the car feel so much tighter, on and off throttle jittering is almost gone.
beware of ones with absorbers, becaue that defeats the whole purpose of the brace, and if too much rubber is used it just makes it feel sloppy again. Remember the brace is an alternative to solid engine mounts in many ways, but it has almost no vibrations like solid mounts do. slap in too much rubber or too soft a dampner and you are back where you started, trust me :) almost all front-whel drive cars with decent amounts of horsepower have torque braces. check out the www.rx7store.net they have them |
