I couldn't find any decent pictures before I installed mine, so I took some today after I finished. Here's for the curious.

Looks like a pretty well laid out, bolt-in roll bar. Post up some pics once you get the seats in.

Looks good - are you preparing the car for anything in particular or just a fun track day car?

It's just for fun. I really just wanted somthing to add a little strength and give a place to mount some 5 point harnesses. I'm happy with it so far. Thinking about making a simple bend by my feet and run a bar back to the hoop along the seat line down low for a half ass 6 point that won't be in the way.

i havent worked on an rx7 in a long time..but are 2 of the 4 (pts) going in the wheel wells?? if so reverse the bolts so that the nut is on top...if that shock compresses enough say good buy to your tire/car as it well shred that sucker up...

I could be completely impossible..just dont want no one getting hurt

DId you drill holes at the mounting points?

I dont remember there being 3 extra holes behind the seats.

Rxmfn7 06-21-09 01:36 PM

^ You need to drill the holes.

Is there a backing plate on the underside of your car opposite the mounting plate on the inside? My raceshop bar bolts in a similar way.

I think this is where he may be talking about. OP, please correct me if I am wrong as this one is listed for $504. And thanks for posting pics, I too have looked for good pics of this bar all installed and always came up empty. BTW, it looks good all installed. Nice job.

1QWIK7 06-21-09 03:39 PM

^^thanks for the link.

I noticed they offer 2 types of street/race bars.

One where the rear tubes mount to the hatch area and another that mounts where the rear speakers go.

Hmmm.

Hate to bring a thread back but i wanna purchase the autopower roll bar.

Only thing is that the pics in this thread show the mounting locations different. There are some 4pt autopower bars that mount in the hatch? And not in the rear speaker location.

Can anyone verify this? And what model the hatch location is?

You might be thinking of the Kirk Racing rollbar:

i bought the 6pt autopower bolt in. the rear mounts 2 into speaker hole & 2 to floor behind seats. drill all holes & has backing plates. nice cage but i think they built it about a 1/4'' to tall it rubs on the headliner. even with lower mounts bolted to the floor without carpet it still touches.

Rxmfn7 10-30-09 09:03 AM

Im pretty sure they are meant to be as snug of a fit into the car as possible. My raceshop bar rubs the headliner too, matter of fact I about had to pound it up into place with a rubber mallet it was so tight.

Did you do the install yourself?

I was feeling the underside of the car where the bolts from behind the seats would be at and i was wondering if there is anything i should look out for that might be in the way of the drilling??

Or should i mount the rear of the bar first (the flanges that go in the hatch), then align the front part of the bar that goes behind the seats, THEN drill??

Would that be a proper way of installation??

Oscypek1007 06-12-11 09:11 AM

sorry to bump this from the dead but I was wondering since it mounts in the speaker area would I have to get rid of my speakers?
