too much boost??

Hi guys,

I recently installed a VDO boost gauge in my car. Just did the boost pattern test. Came up with 12-10-15. I checked it more than once to be sure. It held at 15 all the way to 7000 rpm. I'm thinking that 15 psi on secondary boost is too high.

I have 47k on the car. I believe it is the original motor & turbos.

Mods:
DP, M2 ecu upgrade, Stock airbox mod, efini y-pipe.

Any suggestions or comments would be welcomed.

Thanks, Adam

Do you know if your cat has been gutted or not?

I'm surprise that you can get that much boost going through the stock cat. It's definitely time for a boost controller, however if the wastegate is being overrun you'll need to do something else.

check your boost gauge

I think that the cat is ok. The car has passed smog. I don't think it would pass if the cat was gutted.

The gauge is new, and it did give me the expected readings for the first two parts of the test. Because of that I'm guessing that the gauge is working right.

It looks like I need a boost controller??
