tips for dying carpet
So I've got a tan carpet and it's quite hideous. The pile is in tact but it's so stained and gross I want to deep clean it and dye it black. I've watched several youtube videos and I've dyed mats and such before with good luck.
If any of you have done this did you leave the rubber backing on the carpet or did you pull the carpet from the backing to dye? I feel like I could do either. If I pull the carpet off I think it would be easier to fit in a garbage can for dye and I could always glue it back down afterwards. Thoughts or tips? Matt |
RIT dye and SEM
I did a complete colour change tan to black 5 years ago on an integra DB8
carpet spent a week in a garbage can with several boxes of RIT dye, box of salt and hottest water I could get (garden hose attached to laundry sink since it had threaded tap). Then I touched up any light areas with SEM classic coat black. Once a set of new black floor mats were in, carpet looked like brand new factory black. |

Hmmm... interesting. Have you done it in an FD?
