Well, My boost is creeping beyond my control. I have decided to due this for sure tommorow so I can get dyno time in Saturday. (1/24)

Just grab the wastegate that controls boost, the brown thing, and further bore open "a" whole that is smaller in diameter then the whole it sits directly underneath. Correct?

disconnect the wastegate door from the actuator rod.

then inlarge the hole.

I made the opposite side of the puck beveled out giving a smoother surface for air to flow and increaseing the area on that side of the housing. I barely rounded the puck side. You want to keep a tight seal there. My goal for this was reducing turbulance.

Some other pply have some more experience with this (only my 2nd wg port)

make sure u leave enought area and remember to move the puck around a bit so ensure it won't be too small (there's a bit of play).

If you do take too much your wastegate might stick. If that happens you have to port larger than the puck all around. This would increase your spool time but should have good boost control :)

So, just take out two WS and port it. Anything I need to concern? And how much I should port. Anyone can tell more about this topic and the steps of porting. Pics will be help. Thanks

there is only one wg

the biggest thing to watch out for is going over the puck size.

there is just a small C clip holding the actuator rod on and you should be able to open wg far enough to port it properly.

Some ppl prefer to take turbo apart. I have never done that. I just plug the ports with paper towels.

the risk of getting fillings in the oil rings is less but i figure there is always a possibility of damaging the turbo while removing the shaft (and saves some time).

the key is to make sure all filings are out after you port.

i guess i ported 3 turbos before (a s4,s5,s6 turbos) but the s6 is one of the easiest. I split the turbos up into two.

On the third gen waste gate open the hole to 1.24 inch ,with the stock size door . The prespool door is 1/10 bigger . I you put one of those in there the hole can be made bigger . It has been done .

You have to pull the turbos to port them correct? What kind of hour count are we talking about getting the turbos out?

No offense dude, but I think you are oversimplifying things. From what I know the wastgate needs to be ported to a very specific size. You're making it sound like you just jam a drill bit in there and hog it out.

Plus you really don't want metal shavings fucking up a set of oil seals in a very expensive set of turbos. FDs are notorious for leaky seals why risk fucking up your turbos prematurely.

i used a dremel to street port an engine........does that mean i hoged my engine? You can get very accurate resuslts.

i don't understand what's the big deal.

Pic of my ported wastegate. Most folks port it to 1.24in diameter but this is actually ported to 1.4in. Still have enough overlap to build boost like normal.
