i hate seeing rx-7s f'd up.... i learned my lesson when i spun out and was lucky enough not to wreck.

dont push your luck with wet roads.

adam c 04-29-05 12:02 PM

Looks like somebody was tailgating, or not paying attention. Ouch!!

PhoenixDownVII 04-29-05 12:13 PM

That's Montego Blue? Looks blacker than usual...

Sorry to see that, story?

I'll buy yer rims if you're selling them!

c h I n e Z e~BoY 04-29-05 12:21 PM

let us know if your selling stuff...

i doubt it since the engine still looks fine.

Montego 04-29-05 12:34 PM

Buy it back from the insurance because that for sure is a total loss. I mean it does not take much to total them.

Agreed. Not to burst your bubble but that puppy is done. You can make some decent money parting it out. Good luck with your next car. I'm glad you're okay. You'll be able to replace the car....

Montego 04-29-05 12:55 PM

^^ Screw parting that car out. As long as the frame is not bent it's totally fixable.

Aftermarket bumper, hood, fenders + miscellaneous underhood parts = back on the road :)

r0gu3 04-29-05 12:56 PM

Nah, not mine. Just wanted to remind everyone out there that things like this can happen even if you are careful. Rain is not forgiving.

Klar 04-29-05 12:56 PM

Nope, thats not his. Thats one of us Austin guys. Don't think he wanted all this posted yet...

That's why I'm not going to say who it is .... for now.

TwinTurbo93 04-29-05 01:20 PM

:dammit:
Ouch... Whoever that was I hope he/she didn't get hurt.
Hard to see FD's smashed like that... :tear:

rynberg 04-29-05 01:21 PM

It's a shame but I disagree about driving in the rain. There is zero reason you cannot safely drive this car in the rain, as long as you have good tires and common sense.

That is a hard enough impact that someone must have made a pretty big mistake, either the driver of the FD or the driver of another car.

Best of luck to the FD owner.

Kento 04-29-05 01:26 PM

Nevermind, I see which post you were referring to...

adam c 04-29-05 01:26 PM

Sorry Rynberg, I disagree.

You should never drive an FD in the rain .......... unless it is already dirty :D

Klar 04-29-05 01:27 PM

And he did seem pissed about you posting this elsewhere...
Not my business though. He can be an arrogant pos sometimes. While I just treat everyone like shit 100% of the time.

man... i wish mine first one looked that good when i got done hydroplaning! seriously I almost died.. but bought salvage and another and put them together..funny that was montego blue too......be careful

John Magnuson 04-29-05 02:23 PM

Slid out in the rain once on a seriously slick part of the road. My rear tires didn't have enough tread. I hadn't looked at them in a few months and didn't realise how fast my FD was eating up the rear tires. I was used to my Miata. Fortunately I did not go off the road or do any damage.

That FD is not MB, its BB.

2FAST7S 04-29-05 02:38 PM

that must have been some impact!

My.02, good tires/brakes should go a long way as long as youre not carving up apex's hoping you get the grip...Know your limits or your car's, tires? equipment..ah, w/e

I'm parking mine tonight....rain in the forecast!

I got stuck in the rain last night...first time in a few years I drove in the rain. I have never got in my car and left the house (in the FD) with it raining or knowing it was going to rain.

I dunno - that could be as simple as a bump into a stopped SUV at low speed. The incompatible bumper heights would have run the FD under it and caused the kind of damage you see there. You think that's a nasty idea - picture what happens when the SUV t-bones the FD and concentrates the impact above the center of the door. (I don't like the idea of lifted trucks on the street, can you tell :))

Rain is dangerous IMO because on the street you need more stopping distance, more road width for recovery, etc when something sudden comes up. Nearly all of us are guilty of not backing off enough, slowing down enough, etc in rain to avoid possible accidents. We're accustomed to reacting in dry conditions.

Dave
