Those with 99 turbos and stock ECU
 

as title says,

for those who runs 99~ Kouki Stock Twins with Stock ECU, non-cali or not.

having any problems?

I'v recently got 99 twins running with stock ecu.

Car wouldn' respond to throttle as sharp when wide opened at 4-5k RPM range.

in other words, when about transition, it'll take quite a while for boost to get up.

contrary to idea of smaller turbine, Lag is lot longer.

feels as if exhaust pressure isn't building as fast or leaking.

and quite often, upon full throttle, it wouldn't boost at all, needle will go only up to Zero.

Other times, transition works, boosts better than fine and strong. when throttle is opened at primary RPM range, primary boosts fine and minimal lag.

How is yours running?

There is something wrong. After my rebuild and break in I ran the stock ECU. The car was fast a hell no boosting problems what so ever, sort of. I was spiking on the high side hence the upgrade to the PFC.

Don't forget the 99' specs don't use wastegate pills.

Most of the time i just run through the first boost/turbo and then nothing...but as the quoted part states...that happens to me once in a blue moon.

a friend of mine had the same problem. He forgot to remove the restriction pills on the hoses. Best of luck. upgrade the comp... it will be $$ well spent

I ran them, the car ran fine. Pulled very nicely. You got a leak or something somewhere..good luck!

The 99 Turbos have built in restrictor pills to control boost levels. The old style Turbos, yeah the ones you removed did not have built in restictor pills. No having said that, it is important that the existing pills be removed when installing a 99 spec turbos. If you look at tghe vacuum hose diagram, you will be able to find them. They are inside of the vacuum lines.... if you replaced the vacuum hoses then I am sure they are in the trash. Threre are two restrictor pills unless you were running a boost controller.

so these pills are in vaccum line straight out of Wastegate control actuator?

the two actuators on the passenger (for us) side facing you when standing infront of the car have two small lines with pills in for pre-99 spec. Remove them if they are in the lines.

If not, it could be a solenoid - when they are old the spring gets weak, boost holds it open around that rev range and both turbos get spooled up even though only one is needed.

Hope this helps... there are two restriction pills if you have any at all.
