thinking about buying a 93 rx-7

i was looking at some rx-7's and i found one reletively cheap with low miles. but it has "some engine problems" i was just wondering what i might be getting myself into with this?... the car overall is awesome in like new condition, but the owner says there is some engine problems...

New engine (and possibly turbos) is going to be $3-$5k installed. Unless by cheap, you mean $8k or less, I would pass.

Ditto!!^^
If you have a Rx-7 mechanic as a friend you might get away with it...(I do)
This is not the type of car you want problems, even when its fixed something
still wrong lol...

Have someone who is knowledgeable check it out 1st!

good luck! :bigthumb:

well if the car runs, but not as well as it should... would it be worth buying and fixing? or will it be tuff and expensive to repair... i know quite a bit about cars in general, just not about wankel engines... but working on cars is my hobby, so maintenence wont be an issue once the car works... but if it cant be fixed then i wont buy it.

Get a compression test no matter what RX-7 are considering to purchase. You'll know where you stand with the test properly done.

I financed mine through my credit union and bought a warranty. Good thing, the warranty cost me $1400 but paid over $4000 when my engine went (3 months after buying my RX) and something else went that it covered....can't remember off hand, it was 5 years ago now lol. Buying a used car is always a gamble!
