Thinking about buying 1997 RX7... tips on what to look for?

Hi guys,

I'm thinking about picking up a 1997 TT RX7 but I am new to these cars and would like to get some tips of anything in particular I should watch out for, or check for to make sure I'm not getting a lemon.

Whats the best way to check and see if I'm getting full boost if the car doesnt have a boost gauge?
Is there a way to tell if both turbo's are operating properly or might soon die?

Is there anything specific to this car that could tip me off as to passing on it?

Here is a link to the one I'm thinking of:

Thanks guys..

First, learn all you can by reading the FAQ:
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/

There are buyer's guides in there. The references to trim packages are for USDM RX-7s, but the basic information applies just the same.

You don't want to buy an FD with a bad engine. That's the biggest potential money hole, and of course you don't want other major problems.

Buy your own mechanical boost gauge and you can fit it in 1 minute to whatever car you are test driving. You want a 10-8-10 boost pattern, which you'll find more info about in the FAQ.
