Things left to fix that drive you nuts?
 

On my car, it is pretty much the rear window defroster. I ruined the grid in the glass when I took off some shitty tint that the previous owner had. I need to get a new glass and have it installed and tinted. I just haven't brought myself to spend the bux on this yet.

So....what are some others' open projects?

if you only messed up a few grids you can pick-up a repair kit at your local auto-parts store, not sure but i think auto glass repair shops fix defroster grids.

My really annoying problem was a crappy idle with the AC or a bunch of accessories. on. I've got the car apart and one thing I did was the ISC fix from the guru website. Haven't tried it yet but hopefully that got it. Good write-up for the UIM removal rookies.

my driver side door compartment busted and the lid is always flying off. gotta order a new one up from ray.

First, all the cosmetic stuff that either A) costs XXX$ to fix (scratched interior panels) or B) is going to get fixed when I get that full paint job I've been wanting for 4 years now.
- shifter panel and tranny tunnel cover fix (the tabs are broken)
- various scratches and dents on body
- noisy tranny input shaft bearing (improperly installed)
- install full Mazdaspeed suspension bushing set
- Get new seatcovers made and installed
- Repaint and repair both sets of my stock wheels
- Change brake lines and bleed
- rebuild spare tranny(s) and swap out
- need a new center defroster snap-in piece
- repaint wiper arm
- repair cracked plastic surround on driver door
- replace check valve on gas tank
- pull downpipe and try to find minor exhaust leak
- replace throttle cable
- rebuild/reassemble FD diff with 3.9s and sell it

My excuse is that the car is outside right now and until I get the garage cleaned out I can't start work on much of this stuff. The garage is full of FD parts and horse feed and haybales and all sorts of stuff. We're not pigs, but boy could we use a little storage space.

-need to relocate my battery to the hatch so i can install my jdm rear seats that i bought a year ago lol ( i have all the materials, just havent had time and the weather is like frozen tundra out there, ill prob do it close to spring time)

-replace my main cat (again i have it, just havent had time and weather is not good)

-install my 99 lip

-install my oem side skirts


I think thats about it.

-defrost vent by windshield need to be replaced
-power steering lines leak
-steering boot is ripped
-wire hanging from under the car and cannot find where it goes
-snapped off a lugnut and needs to be replaced
-rear busings need to be replaced
-need a diff brace
-idle pully squeeks
-need new front bumper
-lip needs to be re-installed (doesnt line up right)
- a/c and heater dont work

Mechanically it's in really good shape.

Both my interior door panel window garnish pieces need to be replaced...
And my headlight actuator is missing a bushing and needs to be replaced...

This is depressing.

the chrome's coming off the gauge bezels
idler pulley also squeaks
clear coat is seperating from the carbon fiber on my hood (i have no clue how to fix that)
ash tray has a lot of wear marks
drivers side seat leather is worn through showing foam
need to replace the toe links. did the trailing arms but still a little clunk

you're right this is depressing. even the small things are gonna cost a lot of money. hahaha. thank goodness for tax returns

rattles drive me nuts, interior plastics suck and are expensive, oil leaks are expensive to fix, all vacuum hoses under the hood that bake in the heat, abs unit that leaks cost big money to fix, clunks in the suspension, clear coat paint that peels, headlights suck, auto trans is weak, sensors like the egr valve that trip cell codes suck, getting the car through smog, and about a thousand other things I can't think of right now.
Why do we put up with all of this???????????????? LOL

My windshield has lots of tiny pits in it. They are really annoying when I am driving into the sun. Would like a new one, but its not urgent.

Front engine seal has a small oil leak. Too lazy to fix it :)

Aside from the o ring that is going out, I'd say the OMP is the thing that drives me nuts.

I've been told it is very common for it to leak and cannot be fixed without replacing the entire pump or removing it completely.

My mechanic says the pump cost around $2000 and that most people choose not to replace it since it rarely causes any measurable loss of oil and you can still drive it hard and it won't cause it to leak any worse.

Removing it and going to pre-mix has an appeal but then it wouldn't be original and might turn off some buyers when I go to sell it. So for now I'm living with the dirty driveway and garage floor. Just putting down pcs of cardboard to catch the tiny drip.

I've been meaning to replace the suspension bushings and buy new shocks, but a slow coolant seal failure takes priority.


After riding in an LS1-swapped car, I'm seriously considering that myself. However, I don't have a place to store all the original parts, and I might want to put it back to original showroom configuration in a decade or two.

Replacing rear shocks from MAZDA MOTORSPORTS. Wondering if I should go ahead with some minor mods and leave SS for ASP.

Get her tuned,
new paint job,
replace pillow balls(bought a full set almost a year ago, I need to install them),
fix various suspension squeaks,
fix funky boost issue,
adjust TPS,
fix PS fluid leak,
fix .25 inch crach in windshield,
the list goes on and on and on...

OH well....yeah, my car needs a few door dings fixed and a new paint job too.
A couple of the wheels have some pretty bad curb rash from the previous owner.
And yeah...the windshield shows 14 years of pits too.
I have a new shifter that is MINT to replace my faded one, need to put that in soon. Otherwise my interior is in great shape.

If you haven't already looked into it, PDR can do wonders. I've had some parking lot dings taken out. It surprised me how well it turned out and alot cheaper than traditional repair.
I've got the windshield issues too. A million little chips that sparkle in the sun. With my luck though, I'll replace it and get on huge crack within a month.

My tint on my rear window is peeling etc... that needs to be fixed... my door handles are a little scratched... and most recently... getting clunkling sounds that you can actually feel... so need to find out what that is and fix it lol... FD = financial difficulties.... but I still love my FD :)

Side trim pieces demolished. I lost one on my drive through the snow from Maryland back to Illinois. It was the day I was let loose from the Marines.

Just a few small things...like a new motor. :rlaugh:
