Is there a way to test the coolant level sensor to see if it is bad?

Like the title says i was wanting to know if there was a way to test the sensor to see if it is at fault for my constant beep.

Thanks

Yes. Ground it out. If beep stays, you have an open somewhere.

i grounded it out and it still beeped, what do you mean by an open? And where do you suggest looking?

Thanks

I just went to iluvmyrx7.com to try to get a diagram but the site was down.

If you ground the connector and the buzzer stops, the sensor is bad. If you ground the connector and the buzzer continues, you've probably got a break in the wire somewhere.

Sensor allows current flow if coolant is present - otherwise break in the circuit and alarm stays on.

If the buzzer stays on when you connect the sensor to metal the wire has a break, as mentioned.

I'm fairly sure it's not even a sensor anyways, it's just a switch.

Is there a wire that goes straight from that snesor to the ECU? I was looking through the service manual and cant seem to find what the service manual refer to this sensor as.

What section are you in?

Go to the electrical section at the rear and look under WARNING SYSTEM.

i was looking on pages 152-164 in setion F but i can find teh warning system. My manual only goes to TD and i dont have teh last to sections.

I'm selling my 3rd gen workshop manual $30 :) sorry bout the thread jackin

clayne 03-02-04 06:43 PM

c00lduke. It's all part of the warning system. I'll find you the information when I get home tonight.

If I remember correctly the route is this:

CLS (coolant level sensor) < --- > black plug on the driver side right next to the ignition harness plug, power steering pump and under the intake extension arm.

That is the point it connects to.

Great, that solved the issues, I stipped down my battery harness and that one was one that i missed hile plugging in. Thanks clayne
