Recorded Boost With Digicam!

1 Attachment(s)
Yep, today I went out for a drive and recorded an avi movie of my 3rd gear pull with my digital camera. It's about 7 megs if anyone wants to see it but I don't have any idea how to post it or where to host it.

Anyway, according to windows movie maker my 3rd gear 40-70mph time is 4 seconds flat. I know I shouldn't use this a a measure but I don't have any other means for now... Is this time good?

I made an excell chart of my boost pattern taken from the video (aproximated).... the last few points were not steady, the needle wiggled between 11.5 and 12.5 so I averaged it to 12. What do you think?

I guess i have too much time in my hands! :D

Isn't 11.5-12.5 really high for having stock pre-cat, main cat, and cat back? I didn't think the intake mod alone would go anywhere near this high!

I was boosting 14.5 with a Pettit ECU, downpipe and RB Duals. Stock airbox and cat. I quickly installed a manual boost controller. Now I'm running a Adam_C intake and hi-flow cat at rock solid 10 PSI until I install my ASP IC.

Steve,

The intake mod definitely increases boost by 1 to 1.5psi. It may be that his car was boosting over 10 psi to begin with. Its also possible that his gauge is just a little off. A comparison with another gauge will resolve that possiblity.

I think boost controllers are a must when modding an FD.

After installing my intake, RB cat back, DP, small mount IC, ported motor, I was boosting 15lbs! I bored out the diameter of the wastegate pill to about .100" and reduced boost to 11psi. This is all with the HKS F-con.

If you have extra time on your hands and don't want to buy an aftermarket ECU, I would suggest changing the wastegate pills.

Keep in mind I'm using the M2 ECU, I believe it raises boost a little. I'm also reading boost off the MAP sensor hose which I also believe reads somewhat higher than the nipple in the UIM.

With the colder climate boost sometimes goes up to 13 but never higher, it builds up so quickly it looks like it'll keep going up forever but it stops everytime around 12~13

I'm worried to know if this is safe with just the M2 ECU and intake... specially since I'm using the stock intercooler

I think it is fine as is. The stock intercooler isn't great, so the turbos have to work a little harder at that level. Don't worry about it :)
