Tension bolts spec
Hey Guys,
I while back I read a post about torquing the tension bolt to a higher spec than factory setting. I believe it was Pettit Racing that did it, I did the search but did come up with anything. I just like to reread the post and see what are the pros and cons. If you guys have any info, please send me the link. Thanks, Jay |
I just did this search a few days ago b/c mine are all leaking. The spec was 85lbs for high performance engines built by a company that had rotory in the name. can't remember what link it was under the search.
There were a few others that torqued to different amounts above the normal 26-30lb range, I loosened all mine in order, and then torqued to 40lb, i haven't finished putting it back together yet or pressure tested so i'm not sure if it fixed it yet. |
Here you go:

Kyle, I knew you would chime in with some useful answers. How's your back treating you? Did you get your car running?
I blew my water seals because the stupid plastic radiator fans broke off from the fan motor. The temp spiked and it was all over before I could pull over. |
Forgive my ignorance, but what the heck is a "tension bolt?" All bolts are under tension when tightened, right?

Ah, the long bolts that hold it all together. Thanks!

your tension bolt o-rings are worn and need replacement. torquing them more will make them more prone to complete failure. they are $1.45 each at mazdatrix. don't be cheap |
