temp. question
so i have a stock 93..its my first 3rd gen so i had a question about the temperature...
the temperature goes to almost the middle within 10-15 minutes of starting it..and doesnt go back down until the car has been sitting for over 4 hours..i drove the car for 10 hours straight from FL to NC with a 20 minute break with no problems at all..but the temperature stayed around the middle the entire time..im not sure if thats normal but if its not any help will be appreciated..thanks |
The stock gauge is really not a proper analogue gauge and effectively indicates only three positions: off, warmed up, overheat.
However, the answers to really basic questions like this are easily found if you search. |
The stock temperature gauge is not something to rely on. If you search you will find that it usually shows the temp in the middle range. It's weighted towards the middle. If it overheats you won't find out until it's too late, or so that is what everybody says. You have some options....
1. Don't worry about it (not recommended) 2. Get a water temp gauge. If you don't mind adding a gauge to your dash this is most important one you can buy for your RX-7. 3. Get a lower temp. fan switch which will turn on the fans at 180-185 deg. verses the stock 210 deg. http://www.pettitracing.com/rx7/185%...n%20Switch.pdf The best thing you can do is search and look through the FAQ. This topic has been covered in detail and there is a lot of good information so you can make a decision on what is best for your car. |
sounds right to me. my gauge doesnt go to the middle til about 60 on my PFC and it holds its temp for a while. which is nice if im not somewhere for long so i dont have to wait again.
