temp linearization...
 

Hey ive been looking for the how to so I can linearize the temperature gauge but i cant find it on robinette's site and since yahoo took down geocities the rest of the sites are not there, I was wondering if anyone could post a how-to on it again on the forum.

I would advise you to just but an aftermarket digital water temperature gauge and forget modding the stock gauge. It will be the best $100 you will ever spend.

I planned on doing the same mod to the stock gauge. Then I read the write up and decided it would still be inadequate compared to a real gauge. I hate to lose the stock look but engine longeviety comes first. Get two gauges in one....

I don’t understand the logic of redundant gauges. Reminds me of the Honda boys with their massive tachs bolted to the dash.

I did the linearization mod to my gauge years ago & love it.

Since you can adjust the needle position (calibrate the gauge) I found it quite actuate. It’s very sensitive , you can watch the thermostat open & cycle on start up & during fan operation.

Where are you going to mount your new gauge? Or should I say gauges? Like tattoos you normally don’t have just one.

I prefer a clean, uncluttered look. After all, it’s not a 747.

I agree, uncluttered is good. I was going to use the two gauge pod that replaces the center speaker. Stock with no gauges definitely looks the best but I would like to know actual temp and pressure of oil. Looks aside, the gauge I posted gives two readings and has warning lights. Stock gauge won't do that. I also would not mind having a boost gauge to know if everything is working right and not over 10psi. At least the bump on the center dash won't cause destruction to the pillar plastic. I'd just rather know exactly where the temp is at, what boost is actually and if I have good oil pressure. If any of those things get out of whack then if could cost a lot more. It gets hot here in TX.
