t2 coil conversion help

I pulled a set of t2 leading coils from a running car(known good coils). now here is the question. do i use the ignitor the coil is mounted to, or remove the ignitor and use only the coil only and hook the stock wiring harness up to the ring terminals? also dose anyone know wich side of the coil is positive(l1 or l2 side) if i was to use the coil only?:wallbash:

If you take off the plastic cover (unclip it), there are symbols denoting the polarities. Usually when people change to a t2 coil they use an aftermarket ignition amp like msd or jacobs. Its not really going to offer you any real benefit just to switch over.

msd coming, but trying to get the car for a street tune. debug the single turbo switch. just trying for pump gas tune first. I already had the coil and the intake was off. on the coil i have dose not have markings under the clip.

look more closely. if your ignitor is still connected to the coil the black is the negative side.

both leads are black!
the main question is do I use the ignitor.

no

if your ignitor is still connected to the coil... then imagine this

if your coil is facing the ceiling and the ignitor is on the floor,
with the terminals facing you, positive will be the right wire.

or you can take a closer look because i remember it is marked in the upper corner positive on the right side.

I think cewrx7r1 had a post with pics about this. I think it was in the Single Turbo section. Might want to search for it.

to use a T2 coil you have to have some kind of ignition amp HKS, Jacobs, Msd ext.... also you should be able to look at the coil it self and see a neg and pos sign next to where the t2 ignighter used to bolt. also like rx7brandon said you dont use the the t2 ingnighter. as for how you run the plug wires it doesnt matter as long as both go to the leading plugs. this is because both plugs fire at the same time to ingite the a/f mixture and produce a wasted spark for the other rotor.

oops! screwed up one connection. runs great, no need for amp to run it. it's now ready to go to the tuner. hope to break 450hp on pump.
