Swift sway bars: Review (CAVEAT EMPTOR)
 

Swift sway bars; Buyer Beware.

Story:
- Purchased this spring
- Tried to install them and they did NOT fit (brought to local tuner garage).

..... I went into the bay when the installer said he couldn't get the bar to fit. We tried everything to get it in (playing with slack in every bolt, putting weight on wheels to change height of endlink). Nothing would allow the bar to go in the mounts and the endlinks at the same time..... So stock bar was reinstalled.

- Contact was made with SWIFT to resolve issue. They wanted pics of both bars uninstalled and on top of each other.

My friend (also RX7 owner) couldn't believe a sway bar wouldn't fit so I took the car and bar to his place and we tried once more to get it in. Again same results. We took the following pics of the 2 bars for comparison and as you can clearly see there is a difference in length:

- Sent pics to Swift USA, who sent them to Swift Japan. 3 weeks later I get this response:"This is the way it was designed, so the bar that your customer has now is not defected.
As far as on the pictures that was send to us, It is made to our spec, and will function properly without any problem. The sway bar needs to install the end link in angled position.

Just to let you know, we have sold a lot of these bars in here and many Asian countries, and had no complaint at all.”



I don't car what they say, the bar is not going into the car without modification. So, I took it to a machine shop and had a 1/4 inch planed off of each end. Then the bar went in without issue.

Buyer Beware: This is not a drop in part!

why didnt you buy the racing beat one? that probably would of gone in without any issue

Free will to choose Swift becuase he wanted them? :dunno:

Why didnt you choose a piston instead of the rotary? Im sure it wouldnt have blown on you? :)

Also, Im interested to see how these sways end up treating you, I was planning on ordering them myself. Do you have a way to measure the thickness of the bar by comparison to the oem ones?

Hmmm, bought my Swift sway bars from Rishie over a year ago and had Dave@KDR put them in. I don't recall him having any trouble fitting them. They made a nice improvement to the handling.
