sunroof restoration (removal/disassembly questions)

i would like to restore my sunroof, mainly the weatherstripping and the brackets which are now rusted...it works fine as it is, and i know if it isn't broke i shouldn't fix it, but when it is open, you can see all of the corroded rails and crappy weather stripping- i want to disassemble it and repaint/regrease/reseal everything

anyone have any help about removing it and getting to these parts? anyone done this?

and yes, i can read the blow up diagrams, i just want some friendly advice

nobody can ever answer my questions, all the newbies get 30posts on a how-to answered question, wtf?

I havent replaced the brackets. I just cleaned mine up and sprayed them with an anti rust paint. (looks like new). As for the weatherstripping, about $80.00 from Russell Mazda Plus S+H #800-638-8401. I hope this makes up for all of the negligence. Good luck.

Go to MazdaFormance and pull down the microfilm on the PDF files. It has a blow up of the sunroof and all the part numbers. I don't have a sunroof on mine so I can't help with the removal. If you go to the shop manual (http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/whats_new.html) it should tell you how to dissassemble.

I know to at least get the thing off you need a long screwdriver to get the pop rivets off that hold the interior piece on. once all have been poped you just slide the piece off then start undoing 10mm nuts and such. hope this helps.

yeah, thanks for the help guys, i think this is a project we should all be doing
