Sun Roof Leak
 

I noticed that my drivers side carpet was wet a few days ago. I have blotted it dry and think that the leak is coming from the sun-roof. The rubber gasket does not appear to be properly attached (when I close the sun-roof, areas of the gasket slide down). I removed the gasket and there was considerable rust on the front edges of the sun-roof. The gasket was not damaged that I could tell. I managed to get the gasket back on but it did not want to attach over the top edge in certain areas. I also noticed that there was standing water in the drivers side front corner of the opening. It had not rained in couple of days.

My question is should I be using some sort of adhesive to hold the gasket down or should I purchase a new one?

Same type of thing happened to me. The car lives outside, so the rubber seal got beaten up by sun and sap and bird poo, etc. Eventually started to come apart. The side-effect of this is that junk started getting in every time it rained, and eventually clogged up the drains. There are drains at each corner, but you cannot see them or feel where they are. Water builds up and drips into the cockpit. I looked in the manual to get a general idea where these things are so that I could squirt water in there and clear them. It took a few days of letting it dry out and flushing again before it cleared up. I thought of stuffing an old guitar string up the front drain (near base of windshield) but could not get it in.

By the way, I also replaced the seal at that time. I think it was about $70 or $100 for it. Call Malloy.

Defanetly replace it, fixing a alread damaged seal is going to give you head achs down the line.

If you don't have access to an air compressor, I'd check with a local shop and ask them to simply blow the drains out. Just don't let them put 150 psi to them as the drain tubes may also be weakened.
As for the gasket, if it's not damaged, I'd just clean off as much of the rust scale as you can, and get some 3M Weatherstrip adhesive. It's black, available at most parts stores and should do what you want.
