stupid electrical question

stock foglight switch has 4 wires coming out of it which go to a connector. Use for this switch is for teh water/alcohol injection solenoid and there are only 2 wires coming off of that. How do I know which wires to use on the foglight, my previous switch just had 2 places where wires could connect but I wanted to keep the car totally stock looking.

Also, can you ground something well if there is a nut then the ground then thin rubber/plastic and then metal again?

i may be retarded today but i don't quite understand your first question. as for the second one yes it may work but no you shouldn't do it and i wouldn't count on it. just get some sand paper it'll take you five minutes.

im trying to use a foglight switch which has 4 wires coming out of it for something that only has 2 wires coming out of it and I dont know which 2 on the foglight switch to use or if I may need all of them.

my 2nd question has nothing to do with sandpaper. More specifically I should say it like this. Find me a good grounding spot under the center counsole panel where the shifter goes through. There are none that dont involve plastic I dont think.

Two of the wires on the switch are for the little light in the switch .the other two are the ones you need . Use a volt meter to see . The studs that hold the rubber shifter boot down are ground . Put the wire connector under the boot , and remove the paint as said . The boot is down with four studs .

what if I want the light to work as well? Tap into the ashtray light and ground the other wire?

The red with yellow stripe wire and the white wire are the foglight wires.

i dont actually have foglights so I dont have the harness to look at for direction. How can I get the lights to work in it too? And also is the white one possitive for the switch or negative? I wont be able to tell if its working because its for water injection and it takes about a week of hard driving to notice a difference in the level

k I got the light figured out I think.

which of the other 2 are for possitive and neg or what are they for?

there are 4 wires 2 thin 2 thicker

one of the thick ones is for power and the other a ground right? Which color of the 2 is for power?

thanks Id like to wire this today and get the interior back together

OK, the Red wire with yellow stripe is fog light power, the White wire is directly to the fog lights.

The Red with blue stripe wire is the power for the fog light switch light, the Red with green stripe is to ground.

thanks for your help again. Im a total idiot with pretty much everything. The switch I had in there before was for the water injection it had 2 prongs on it and thats what im using this for. one wire comes directly off of my water injection solenoid and then one going somewhere back to the battery relays or something. Should I hook up the white wire to the one coming right from the water injection solenoid? I think this is right.

jeez everything comes out so wordy for me just wanted to include all the details.
