Stupid boost leak? Tell me this is a dumbass fix...

Under the UIM, near the TB - there are I believe 4 nipples. One goes to the oil dealio, and whatever else... thing is... on a setup they are either all in use, or capped off.

Now, if one of this was uncapped... and left unused... wouldn't this cause a major boost leak? As in... my boost would be super shitty?

It would be a pretty minor boost leak, but since it's after the throttle body, it's a vacuum leak as far as the ECU is concerned. The ECU measures manifold pressure after the throttle body - any small air leak there will lower the reading the MAP sensor gets, which throws a monkey wrench in the ECU's computing works.

Fix it pronto.

What exactly is the problem you're experiencing?

I would look very closely to make sure there isn't a hose that should be plugged in there. The vacuum source plugs in there - that would mess up boost big time if not plugged in.

If the double throttle was removed, then one of those nipples would be unused. Like Dale said, cap it.

Yes, removed DT.

Hehe, I need to get some vac caps =P

As for boost, when my turbo comes online it makes a shitload of noise but basically the car doesn't move for crap.

I'll bet it's a boost leak at the intercooler piping. Did you turn the couplers inside out?

If you want to disable the double throtte, you need to cap the nipples on both sides of the manifold.

Your boost issue could be a leak, or a vacuum hose that has come off around the black chamber in front of the manifold. Take it off, and make sure eveything is connected underneath.

Double throttle is removed.

Don't mean to thread jack but are all the nipples supposed to be used if not capped? I noticed yesterday that I have an open nipple and can't seem to find a hose that goes to it. Not sure if it's supposed to not have anything connected to it or be capped. I saw some hoses that just had little foam type filters on the ends of them.

Yeah, if you don't have a cap on a nipple, either you lost a cap, or you should have a hose connected to them. Are you talking about the nipples on the top of the turbo side of the UIM?

those nipples on the uim will cause a bouncing idle (rev's up and down). Thats a common problem.

Is it in the rats nest? There should be one with no cap or hose. IIRC, it was for an automatic.
