Strut Tower Brace

I was wondering if anyone knew about the quality of those $15 strut tower braces that are being sold on e-bay? Are they worth the money or should a more reliable brand be looked into...Here is a website so you can check out what I'm talking about...I was considering buying it but I wanted some feedback first.

I have one of those cheap e-bay strut braces for about 1 1/2 years, it's just perfect and I did notice a pretty big difference in handling when I installed it, it may not look as good as the stock one but the price is also a huge difference.

P.S. Throw the $100.00+ on some other mode.

I believe in you get what you pay for. But if others say it works fine, go with it.

I have one!! Check my sig, I even advertise that I have one.

Honestly though, metal is metal. As long as it fits and doesn't bend, it's just as good as any other stut tower bar. Think about the physics involved and what it actually does. It ties the tops of the struts together so they can't move too far independent of one another, all in an effort to reduce body roll. So as long as the thing doesn't bend, it works.

I say get it, I've had mine since last x-mas, and it works great.

Buy it. If you don't like it, throw it away. It's only $25 shipped. That's a no brainer.

The Carbing 3 point strut brace (as well as the RE-A 3 point strut brace) will need to be modified slightly. The bar as is, will come in contact w/ the brake master cylinder. More specifically, the area of contact is essentially just the "cap" that goes on the master cylinder.

A way around it, is to have the bar cut/welded in a small semi-circle to fit around the "cap". From there, you are good to go.

when you preload an adjustable brace, which way do you adjust it?

I dont know much about strut bars :(

user 9348703 01-22-04 06:02 PM

Yeah there are a lot of 3-4 points now, Autoexe, RE-Amemiya, R-magic, I-Feeling.

Some fit some dont, some are in the works to see if we can get them to fit hehe. One of those is the one DOM mentioned the RE-Amemiya bar.

Best bet is the R-magic one, Im sure I will have it test fitted soon.

I-feelin---very close, needs mod.
RE-Amemiya--Needs cut and mods(seems like too much of a pain)
Autoexe--Same as the RE-Amemiya for the most part (master cyclinder cap mod)
R-magic--looks like a go...

I have one, just installed it a week or so ago. It fits fine, though it's not flat and sits at a small angle. It comes real close to the stock turbo to intercooler plastic pipe, and it looks like it rubs some when the motor moves (my mounts are the suck). It looks good though and I think I noticed the front end feeling a little tighter, especialy on rough roads.

Here's the thing. When installed, I can actually push on the bar and see it bend, so it is not as stiff as it should be. I would consider these bars as "show" bars and if your serious about improving your handling, spend a little more money for a quality piece.

Are you removing/Installing the Brace Bar at the time of getting an alignment? Is their much of a variance, If any?

I have the re-amemiya bar and it does hit the master cyl. resevior at the cap. I finally got mine to fit today by cutting the resevior apart at the top seam and turning it 180 so that the cap is now on the rear of the cyl.

buy it, i have one and it looks and works great....... its a peice of metal.

dubcaps 01-22-04 10:56 PM

i have one, you really can't beat it for the price. i mean for $15 you can either have 30 hot wings (mmmm hot wings) or a strut bar. Its worth it alone simply for the bling factor alone

rotoryspeeddreamz 01-23-04 10:35 PM

I also have thought about getting those strut bars off ebay. You're not even looking at the cheapest one. I've seen them for $6.95 on ebay. If lots of other people are using them it sound like it's a good deal.:D

Snook 01-23-04 10:55 PM
