strut bar torque?
hi all
i've taken my mazda strut bar off to pull apart and repaint. i know the torque value for the 4 nuts that hold the silver plates down onto the susp. towers but am unsure of what to torque the nut, at the spherical bearing, that pulls the red center section towards susp. towers and puts the whole assembly under tension. anyone know what figure to use? is it in the service manual? still have to buy the crowsfoot adapters for the wrench but that's coming eric e |
Yes - it is in suspension section of the service manual (section R I believe; used it myself last weekend). Manual available under a sticky at the top of this board.

You won't find it in the 94 manual which is linked above - the R2s have a fixed-length bar and rely on the slop in the tower mount holes for assembly.
Here is the page, from a 93 manual. |
thanks for that
was wondering why the oem bar, and some aftermarkets, had the tension bolts but many other bars didn't eric e |
94-on they stopped making the tension nut.
I suppose because the additional tension is somewhat meaningless, and it's something else to do wrong. Dave |
