...that's a pretty general question. The ECU won't control the ECU except to turn it on(and that's what you want).

you are only going to need a fuel pump upgrade if you are going to run higher than stock fuel pressure to cover the additional boost, maybe through RRFPR or FPR.

i have the following mods:
-blitz nurspec cb
-apexi fmic
-stock turbos
-hks mp/dp
-street port
just bought the car with the following mods and want to make it more reliable. i know i need a ast, new rad, ecu, and a boost controller.

rynberg 04-25-02 03:22 AM

If you limit boost to 12 psi, you will not need a fuel pump or bigger injectors. Although at only about $250 and a half hour of time, installing the Nippon Denso pump is not bad insurance. If you run over 12 psi, you should really get larger secondary injectors and the fuel pump. Also, if you get the PowerFC, you won't need a boost controller.

Wow with those mods I really suggest you get an ECU upgrade.

my question now is if i get a fuel pump, get just like a pettit be good enough to control it? or do i need a power fc?

so ur saying that even with the street port i dont need a fuel pump unless i run over 12psi?

the stock turbos prob cant take much more then 12 psi hehe so im just gonna leave it at 12psi.

The ecu does NOT control the fuel pump directly. You just install the Nippon Denso and go. Even with the stock ecu. I have heard that the big Bosch and Walbro can run a little rich at idle.

Actually, I forgot about the streetport. I would just get the fuel pump, they're not that expensive. Technically, you don't need a higher flowing pump unless you upgrade to larger secondaries.

KZ1 04-25-02 01:30 PM

fuel pump is a waste if only runnings 12 psi of boost. it is also useless unless, as previsouly stated, you bump fuel pressure or larger injectors.

Furthermore, I wouldn't do any of that without a stand alone. upgraded ECUs are way to expensive when the day is over.

violator 04-25-02 02:24 PM

so whats the verdic? one says yes one says no. im guessing that u dont need it but as rynberg stated it wouldnt hurt i prob might as well get it.
but i should prob get a rad first because of the FMIC the stock rad will not get enough air flow right?

KZ1 04-25-02 03:27 PM

it can hurt your pocket book. technicaly, practically, fundamentally. anyway you want to say it, if you don't upgrade your fuell system you don;t need a fuel pump. it is even debateable when you upgrade to say 1200cc.. that is why a fuel pressure gauge is nice, you can see when you need a new one. no internet guesing with the gauge.

kool thanks kz1. another question while im getting some important tips; :D
what efficienicy are the stock turbos/injectors running at
if i use 12psi??

lane_change 04-25-02 10:30 PM

Mine inj. duty cycle runs anywhere from 88-98% @ WOT. Mods below.

I have a setup some what like yours but i added the nippon denso fuel pump and inj dutycycle went down 11% or so at wot !! at least that is what was display shows from my purple max is 84% use to be 95%-96%
I have talked to ray @pfs and his advice was to upgrade the fuel pump and as long as you are not boosting over 15psi you will be fine on stock inj.i will never run that well maybe on race fuel but that would be it. you can run a high duty cycle but dont do it for like a minute or so.if you are just getting in a street race you will do it for what 4 or 5 seconds!!!

did you get your maps tuned at the same time, because adding a fuel pump will not reduce inj. duty. maybe you tried it on two differernt days with changign temperatures. The ecu will not know the fuel pressure, thus will not make inj. duty go up to compensate for falling pressure. Now, if you took fuel out, that is differnt story.

I added my denso pump and it did jack shit as suspected, it offered nice insurance when I upgraded to 1300cc injectors though.
