Strange Idle: Possible Causes?
 

I'm posting here as I'm not 100% certain this problem is PFC related. I've also searched and found a few others with symptoms, but no solutions.

When my car hits 88 degrees celcius on the PFC I get an bouncing idle. The car immediately shoots up to over 3,000 RPMS and with a blip of the throttle settles to bounce between 1500 and 2500 RPM's. The car ONLY does this when warm, not cold.

My thoughts of what it could be consist of: ICS, air control valve, TPS, or wiring harness at the PFC.

Last night, we adjusted the TPS, no fix. When my car is fully warm VTA1 reads .78v and VTA2 reads 1.67v. What should these readings be when the car is at operating temperature (~85c)?

This weekend I will check the harness to ensure the pins have been pulled, or preferably the wires cut. I am ASSUMING this has been done, since the car didn't exhibit these problems until after it was tuned.

What are some other things I should check this weekend? Any suggestions on other possible causes?

Check your ground wire connections. If it is something that just started happening (as opposed to something that started after working on the car, etc.), then there is a good chance your ground wire connections have become corrodid. There are three ground connections to check: firewall, driver's side fender wall, driver's side of block just above the oil pan lip. All three need to be scuffed clean and tightened.

Is anyone familiar with what the commander should read for VTA1, VTA2 when fully warm, ~85c.

You get to these readings by etc, sensor/sw in the commander.

I had a friend that had that problem and he disconnected the battery, turned headlight on ( to discharge any residual power) and reconnected the battery.

It fixed the problem.

It's in the manual.

At rest:

.40-.45v for narrow.
.90-1.00v for wide.
